Lawful residence in Armenia

Armenia Residence Permit Support

We assess the legal basis, prepare a tailored document checklist, and support the application process for the appropriate residence status—without making unsupported promises of guaranteed approval.

01

Which residence status may fit your case

Armenia provides temporary and permanent residence statuses. The appropriate category depends on the legal basis, residence history, and the applicant’s circumstances.

up to 1 year

Temporary residence

Common grounds include employment, study, business activity, family ties, Armenian origin, and other cases provided by law. It may be extended for another one-year period.

5 years

Permanent residence

Stricter conditions apply. Eligibility depends on the applicant’s history of lawful residence and the additional requirements for the selected legal basis.

02

Common legal grounds

Registering a sole proprietorship or company does not automatically qualify a person for residence. The legal basis and supporting evidence are assessed case by case.

Business activity

Applicants should be ready to demonstrate genuine business activity, not merely the registration of a company or sole proprietorship.

Family ties

Eligibility depends on the relationship, the relative’s status, and other requirements applying to the relevant category.

Study

Enrollment with an Armenian educational institution and the remaining documents on the current official list are required.

Armenian origin

The applicant needs documentary evidence of Armenian origin and the chain linking their records to those of their relatives.

Other circumstances

For non-standard cases, we first verify the applicable legal provision and only then suggest a course of action.

Frequently asked questions

Does registering a sole proprietorship guarantee residence?

No. The authority assesses the business activity and supporting evidence. Business registration alone does not mean automatic approval.

Can the entire process be completed remotely?

This depends on the legal basis and stage. Some preparation can be handled remotely, while certain procedures may require the applicant’s presence.

When should I apply for renewal?

An application to extend temporary or permanent residence should be filed at least 30 days before the card expires.

Does a residence permit automatically make me an Armenian tax resident?

No. Immigration and tax residence are governed by different rules and should be assessed separately.

Does residence automatically lead to citizenship?

No. Residence status does not automatically grant citizenship. Citizenship has separate legal grounds and requirements.
